🚀 Latest Real-world Spatial Applications 

  • Discord will launch a native application for the Meta Quest next year. The new native app will provide a dedicated communication channel for the Quest community, moving beyond the current browser-based experience. Read more. 

  • The Los Angeles Lakers are getting their first live ‘immersive’ sports view on the Apple Vision Pro. A selection of live games will be available to watch in the Apple Immersive format, offering a unique, three-dimensional viewing experience. Read more. 

  • Caradise Puts High-Detail Supercars In Your Room on the Apple Vision Pro. This "spatial car museum" allows users to place highly-detailed 3D models of Ferraris, Bugattis, and other supercars in their physical space at miniature or true scale. Read more. 

  • Garmin Watches and Strava will integrate with Meta Glasses for workout stats. New integrations will allow Meta's smart glasses to overlay real-time performance metrics and other workout data via the glasses' display. Read more. 

  • The Tae Bo Reboot launches on the Meta Quest. Billy Blanks' popular workout program, Tae Bo, has been rebooted as a virtual reality fitness application on the Meta Quest platform for a new generation. Read more. The new

  • TGV INOUI Experience app has been launched for the Apple Vision Pro. The French national rail operator's app extends its ticket and travel management capabilities to visionOS. Read more. 

  • The Windows 11 Remote Desktop feature on the Meta Quest gains aspect ratio setting and ultrawide mode. This update improves the productivity experience by allowing users to view their PC monitor with locked aspect ratios and in ultrawide formats in VR. Read more.

⚙️ Operating System Announcements

Meta Horizon OS v81

Version 81 is rolling out with major non-gaming enhancements, including a new Immersive Home environment, the ability to Anchor Windows to specific locations, and QuickPlay to streamline app launching. Plus the Meta Quest browser is gaining new depth capabilities via the WebXR Depth API for instant, precise virtual object placement in mixed reality. Release notes.

Meta Spatial SDK v0.8.0

The latest update to Meta's native developer toolkit introduces major architectural and performance improvements. v0.8.0 simplifies panel creation with new unified Panel Registration APIs, speeds up iteration with Shader Hot Reload, and makes the Interaction SDK (ISDK) the default input system. Meta Device Access Toolkit SDK

Meta announced the Wearable Device Access Toolkit, an SDK that allows mobile smartphone apps to interact directly with the camera, microphone, and speakers of its smart glasses lineup. Developers can use this toolkit to add features like first-person livestreaming or to feed real-time camera imagery to their own custom AI models for contextual analysis. Notably, the initial release does not support the glasses' display or the Neural Band gestures, though this is a focus for future updates. Read more.

Apple visionOS 26.1 Beta 3

Apple has released a minor point update, version 26.1, for the Apple Vision Pro. This update focuses on delivering important bug fixes, performance improvements, and security enhancements to ensure stability across the visionOS platform. Release notes.

Android XR SDK Now in Developer Preview 2

There have been no new announcements for the Android XR SDK since the release of Developer Preview 2 earlier this year. Developers continue to work with the existing toolkit, which includes support for stereoscopic video, hand tracking via ARCore, and an improved emulator for a more stable development environment.
