Meta Spatial SDK v0.8.0

This Kotlin-based SDK update introduces GSplat support (experimental) for rendering Gaussian Splats with collision handling. It also refines the Stereo Audio API and fixes a critical panel corruption bug in v0.9.1. (Note to all Android Devs!) Release notes.

Meta Device Access Toolkit SDK

Meta announced the Wearable Device Access Toolkit, available in both Kotlin and Swift (for iOS and Android devs!). This SDK allows mobile apps to interact directly with the camera, microphone, and speakers of its smart glasses lineup. Read more.

Meta Horizon OS v83

Rolling out the week of November 24, this update introduces System Positional TimeWarp (SysPTW) to reduce visual judder and lag using real-time scene depth. It also adds Temporal Dimming for Quest 3/3S to reduce eye strain and extends Space Setup to recognize complex architectural elements like slanted ceilings. Additionally, the Meta Quest Link App has been rebranded to Meta Horizon Link. Release notes.

Quest Browser Gets Instant WebXR Hit Testing The Meta Quest browser is gaining new depth capabilities via the WebXR Depth API for instant, precise virtual object placement in mixed reality

Apple visionOS 26.2 Beta 2

Apple has released visionOS 26.2 to the public, exiting beta. This update enables full support for the Logitech Muse digital pen, allowing developers to handle input directly via the Game Controller framework. It also introduces a new StoreKit API for fetching app age ratings and resolves critical bugs in AirDrop discoverability and TV SharePlay for DRM content. Release notes.

Android XR Developer Preview 3

With the launch of Samsung XR, Google is urging developers to check out the new SDK. This is a Kotlin-first environment that utilizes Jetpack Compose for XR to build declarative spatial UIs—meaning modern Android developers can now build immersive apps using the same tools they use for mobile. Meta has acquired the AI wearable startup Limitless, known for its pendant that records and summarizes conversations, bolstering its AI hardware lineup.

Apple's VP of Interface Design, Alan Dye, has reportedly joined Meta to lead a new creative studio for Reality Labs, focusing on the design of future mixed reality interfaces.
